about

Reflecting numerous varied but related branches of the American roots music family, "Migrant" draws both directly and indirectly from influences spanning from the highlands of Scotland to the Great North Woods of rural New Hampshire, down through the Appalachian mountains into the Gulf Coast, Mississippi Delta and Hill Country regions, through the heartland of Central Texas and down to the cumbres of Bolivia's Andes mountains. This album tells a story of the greater American roots music tradition, and of my life over the last few years. These songs (original compositions and covers alike) belong to all of us who call ourselves "Americans" - in the greater hemisphere throughout *and beyond* the borders of the United States of America.

Special thanks to Paddy and John McCarthy (my parents), my dear friend and musical brother Seth Roberts (1983-2012) and the people of Jaffrey, New Hampshire. This album is for all of you.
